Known locally as the "mini Porto Timoni" of central Corfu, Limni Beach is a rare geological formation: a narrow white shingle spit connecting the steep mainland cliffs of Liapades to a dramatic offshore islet. This geographical double-curve creates two distinct sea environments in one location, best explored from the deck of a private boat.
The Dual-Bay Dynamics
The unique appeal of Limni is that the isthmus sits between two independent bodies of water:
- The North Cove (Glyko Side): Sheltered from open swells, this side is remarkably warm and flat like a swimming pool, ideal for paddleboarding or snorkeling along the sheer islet face.
- The South Cove: Deep, open water facing down toward Rovinia, where cooler currents carry schools of sea bream and silver garfish through underwater boulders.
Because the spit is only ten to fifteen meters wide, guests on our private charters can anchor on the sheltered lee side, step ashore, and experience both coastlines within thirty paces.
Skipper’s Anchoring & Navigational Notes
For clients piloting our licence-free 30 HP motorboats, Limni requires attention to underwater rock shelves that project twenty yards out from the central islet:
- Safe Approach: Always approach from the deeper western flank, keeping a minimum distance of thirty meters from the rock base until you locate clear sand seabed.
- Anchor Depth: Drop anchor in five to seven meters of water. Ensure you pay out ample chain rode so the anchor sets deeply into the sand pockets between the pebble patches.
- Thermal Considerations: By 2:30 PM, the local Maistros wind can generate a light chop on the northern side. In an afternoon charter, our licensed skippers simply relocate the boat to the southern lee for undisturbed comfort.
The Glyfada Departure Advantage
Reaching Limni Beach from our private base at Glyfada Beach requires only an eighteen-nautical-mile cruise straight up the western shoreline. By departing from the West Coast, you bypass the crowded harbor traffic of Corfu Port and Gouvia Marina, arriving at Limni in prime morning sunlight while the beaches remain completely untouched.
